OUR FIRST ENCOUNTER WITH NASI KANDAR
PENANG.
Kak Dee might have seen our oily, hungry faces
and upon meeting us she uttered this two letter words that we had been dying to
hear and longed for since the first moment that we arrived here in Penang;
“Nasi Kandar?”
We acted all cool and said ‘yes, of
course kak Dee if it does not take your time”. However, our insides were
screaming with joy!
Well, it was pretty disappointing
actually. We mean, the nasi kandar. We expected a mind-blown-out-of-the-earth
experience but well, the nasi kandar was..urm,how to say this without offending
the Penang people? Well..it was..normal. Yes, normal. It was not NOT tasty. It
was just normal. It tasted almost the same like nasi kandar Pelita that we have
here in Kuala Lumpur.
Kak Dee told us that nasi kandar
that we ate just now was just some usual-you-can-find-everywhere-in-Penang kind
of nasi kandar. We should try the legendary Nasi Kandar Line Clear or Nasi
Kandar Beratur instead.
That night, we were so determined
that we are going to taste the Nasi Kandar Line Clear or at least Nasi Kandar
Beratur the next day. However later we knew that those legendary nasi kandar
stalls were only open at 10 p.m. Unfortunately, we got curfews to follow as some of our parents instructed us
to go back to the penthouse before 10 p.m. You know, things could get worse if
you neglected your parents words. Their words are some kind of jinx to us and
we believed that, really.
Wait, we want on to rant on this
legendry nasi kandar stalls.
HOW COULD THEY START OPENING ONLY AT
10 P.M??
Seriously, they kept saying that
Malaysians are obese. Now whose fault are that? So, people only start eating at
10 in the evening? That was simply outrageous. We can totally see from this
that Malaysians have a very bad eating habit. Very.
